REWARDS
Gold Star- represents academic achievement, which is earned for academic excellence and for academic improvement. In order to earn it you must present me with a report card that indicates you have a 3.0 grade point average (A's and B's). If you have straight A's and earn a 3.5 GPA you will also get the larger Academic Achievement patch. For the Gold Star you can also submit a letter from your school acknowledging improvement.
 Silver Star- represents community involvement earned by providing a service that helps the community. In order to earn the star, a written note acknowledging your volunteer work from your school, church, or a community organization, in which you performed your community service.
Red Star- The red star represents JSK's recognition and spirit within the program. It is earned in different ways. If you have an idea and would like to help please speak with me to ensure that it will earn a red star.

Blue Star- Represents the spirit of competition. In order to earn the blue star you must compete in a martial arts sanctioned tournament. You can compete in anything at the tournament (i.e. Sparring, forms, self-defense, weapons, or breaking). Not all tournaments apply. Check with the instructor on the tournament.
Black Star- Represents a student's personal conduct in and out of the Dojang. The black belt is about attitude and behavior. This includes respect for others, being on time for class, the way the student conducts himself. Parents might have overall control of this star. This is not about being a good example once, this is about consistency and continuous positive behavior that reflects the Black Belt spirit.
These Stars are worn on the left lapel of the dobok.
Power Stripes indicate "Self-Discipline," "Awesome Grades," and "Outstanding Attendance." They are the stripes that are placed on the students belt and the stripe should be on the student's right side.
